Pfeffingen: Super Parker-Bewertungen
Parker attestiert Jan Eymael bestes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis
Pfeffingen lässt's krachen! 88 Parkerpunkte für einen Literflaschenriesling für 7,95 € sind sagenhaft. Aber auch die Scheureben von Jan Eymael sind Spitze:
2008 Riesling trocken, Pfeffingen 88 Punkte
"The Eymaels' 2008 Riesling trocken - largely from the Nussriegel vineyard - was de-acidified, unlike their Pradikat wines of this vintage, but remains more than bright and juicy enough. Heliotrope, orange blossom, and sage in the nose lead to a bright, firm, sappy, well-stuffed palate expression of fresh citrus and under-ripe peach wreathed in herbs and flowers. This fine value should prove versatile over at least the next 3-4 years."
2008 Scheurebe Spätlese trocken, Pfeffingen 90 Punkte
"Lemon grass, lavender, and hints of the more familiar mint and sage scent the Eymaels' 2008 Scheurebe Spatlese trocken, which hits the palate like shafts of sunlight in its white grapefruit and high-toned, pungent herbal concentration. This wine picked already in the first days of October displays the lift and refreshment characteristic for the vintage but that one does not so often encounter in dry Scheurebe. Actually, one doesn't encounter dry Scheurebe that much these days, period. The Eymaels at one point reached 80% sweet wine from this variety, but they are attracting a new clientele, and now the roughly 50% of their Scheurebe production that is trocken sells out quickly, almost entirely within Germany. The wine continues to come from the Herrenberg, but inside Germany, Eymaels have eliminated the Pradikat names from their non-Riesling wines, and in the case of this wine, from all of its labels."
2008 Scheurebe Spätlese, Pfeffingen 91 Punkte
"Eymaels' 2008 Ungsteiner Herrenberg Scheurebe Spatlese was harvested near the end of October, in different parcels and under an entirely different aspect from its dry counterpart, inter alia with 10% botrytis. Cooling mint and sage, honeydew melon and pineapple soothe both in the nose and on a silken-textured palate, where 53 grams of residual sugar are beautifully incorporated without depriving the finish of vivacity and juicy refreshment. This will remain a delight for at least the next 12-15 years."
2008 Scheurebe Auslese, Pfeffingen 91 Punkte
"Variety-typical pink grapefruit along with sage and mint scent the Pfeffingen 2008 Ungsteiner Herrenberg Scheurebe Auslese, which then saturates the almost buttery palate with luscious, herb-wreathed grapefruit and melon, leading to a long and for its genre surprisingly refreshing finish, whose saline savor is especially lip-smacking. Here is an Auslese with lift and moderate (69 grams) sweetness that you actually want to drink, not just sip and analyze! But you can, without worry, take up to two decades to do so."
2008 Scheurebe Beerenauslese, Pfeffingen 95 Punkte
"A striking, racing wintergreen note I have never before noticed with this variety graces the nose of the Eymaels' 2008 Ungsteiner Herrenberg Scheurebe Beerenauslese, one of two nobly sweet wines of its grape harvested here on November 18. Honeydew melon liqueur, grapefruit marmalade, peach preserves, banana, sage, peppermint, and wintergreen inform a rich, subtly creamy, yet refreshing palate that displays 2008's distinctive talent for being both soothing and invigorating. There is levity, refreshment, and elegance that helps render this irresistible sip after sip, just as it's apt to remain for at least 25 years. You'd never guess that 80% of the fruit was shriveled from botrytis - unless, of course, you're familiar with how close to miraculous the truly noble effects of that fungus can be."
2008 Scheurebe Trockenbeerenauslese, Pfeffingen 94 Punkte
"A tiny amount of Riesling T.B.A. was still fermenting last autumn, but the Eymaels' November 18-harvested 2008 Ungsteiner Herrenberg Scheurebe Trockenbeerenauslese is already wine - and what a wine! The buttery texture of the corresponding B.A. (picked the same day) is here accentuated, and strong honeyed and caramelized streaks adding to the sage oil and mint concentrate, marmalade, and pit fruit preserves also familiar from this wine's twin. Subtle yeastiness, vanilla, and nut paste accentuates the confectionary, butter-cream aspects of this elixir, while a sense of near weightlessness belies its textural richness and sheer viscosity. It should be worth following for at least 30 years. We intended to harvest only a Scheurebe B.A., relates Jan Eymael, but the blades of the pruning sheers stuck together when one of our crew tried to cut these grapes, which is how he is always able to tell when we are going to be able to make T.B.A."
