2020 Château Badette Saint Émilion Grand Cru

Robert Parker's wine Advocate: "The 2020 Badette is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, aging for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels, 100% new. The alcohol is 15%. Opaque purple-black colored, the 2020 Badette erupts from the glass with bombastic notes of baked blackberries, plum preserves and kirsch, followed by hints of cedar chest, Chinese five spice, tar and licorice, plus a touch of eucalyptus. The full-bodied palate is full-on rich and decadent, featuring layers of black fruit preserves and exotic spices with a firm, grainy texture and plenty of freshness to support, finishing long and opulent." Jeb Dunnuck: "Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2020 Château Badette comes from a tiny 7.58-hectare vineyard located on iron and clay soils. The blend is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot, and the élevage spanned 16 months in 80% new barrels. It has a gorgeous nose of blueberries, cassis, spring flowers, and chocolaty oak. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Saint-Emilion with ripe, integrated tannins, the vintage's pure, focused profile, and a great finish. This brilliant effort will shine for 15-20+ years from cold cellars."
