"The Siefersheim 2021 Heerkretz Riesling GG is deep, dark and spicy on the still-discreet yet already dense, substantial and, most of all, flinty nose that represents ripe and intense Riesling fruit intertwined with bread aromas from the sur lie aging. Round, fresh and savory on the palate, this is an elegant yet also tight, complex and persistently mineral, pretty saline and tensioned Heerkretz with concentrated and persistent fruit yet still not the brilliance I expect from this cru. The palate is still a bit cloudy and yeasty, which covers the brilliance of the Riesling (!) fruit and also the terroir at this early stage. Structurally, this is a complex Riesling yet texturally a rather Burgundian one due to the lees management that seems to be different here. The 2021 is a promising and supple wine that most probably needs some years to age in the bottle. 13% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in December 2022." Stephan Reinhardt
