The top wine of the estate is the 2015 Saint Chinian La Lauzeta. It’s 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, from ridiculously low yields, that saw 18-24 months in new 500- and 600-liter French oak barrels. Bottled with no finning or filtration, it sports a saturated purple color to go with awesome notes of black raspberries, scorched earth, vanilla bean, iris flower, and crushed violets. With medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful purity of fruit, fine tannin, and a building minerality that shows more on the finish, this is one seriously good Saint Chinian that’s going to keep for 8-10 years. I’d love to pour a glass of this to anyone who doubts the quality coming from the top vignerons in the Languedoc!
