The 2015 Saint Chinian Mezura comes from younger vines of Syrah and Carignan (young being relative as some of these vines are 50-60 years old) and spent 18-24 months in new 400-liter French oak casks. Its deep purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of ripe black fruits, plums, crushed rock, and liquid violets. It picks up more peppery herbs/garrigue characteristics with time in the glass, it’s medium to full-bodied, seamless, and beautifully polished on the palate. This is another terrific wine from this estate that shines for its finesse and elegance. Drink it through 2025.
